What is NEET?
Course Overview
NEET (UG) is one of the most difficult medical entrance exams in India. Every year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts a National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam (NEET) for entry to undergraduate (MBBS/BDS/Ayush Courses) programs. Qualifying for the NEET Exam is a mandatory prerequisite for studying medical courses in India and abroad, according to the Indian government.
This year, NEET exam will be conducted on 1st Aug. 2021
Eligibility Criteria
For admission to a medical university in India, applicants from India and abroad must take the NEET exam. Below are the all criteria that an individual needs to fulfil to appear in the NEET examination:
Age Limit
The age limit for the general candidates is 17 to 25 years old (on or before 31st December of the same year) whereas for the SC/ST/OBC/PWD, it is 17 to 30 years. There is no upper age limit to appear for NEET 2021. The clause had been challenged in the High Court of Delhi and the verdict is pending. Candidates older than 25 years of age can appear for NEET 2021 provisionally.
Quota policy
For all the foreign nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), NRIs, and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) are eligible for a 15% All India Quota seat. Additionally, applicants from J&K / Ladakh are not eligible for the 15% All India Quota seat
Educational qualification
- Candidates must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually in the qualifying examination.
- Candidates belonging to the general category must have scored a minimum of 50% in the qualifying examination.
- Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward should have a minimum score of 40% in the qualifying examination.
- Candidates who belong to the General category and are applying under the Persons with Disability (PWD) Quota, must have a minimum score of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
Quota policy

Number of attempts
